The crowd arrived early
Saturday at the JHS Auditorium for The 3rd Annual John Yancy
Memorial Scholarships 10 Minute One Act Plays. With 9 original
productions ready to be performed the students,
parents, volunteers and friends waited anxiously
for the show to begin. Jim Hilliker, JHS
Drama Director, took the stage and announced
the start of the show. A panel of 5 judges
reviewed & critiqued each production based
on 6 disciplines including writing, directing,
ensemble skills, voice & diction and creativity.
In the end there were 3 winners who took
home cash prizes:
- 1st place winning $250
- A Perfect Little Dosage by Danica
Rockwood
- 2nd place winning $175
- Exposure by Cami Cupples
- 3rd place winning $125
- Just Start at the Beginning by Sierra

The Memorial Scholarships Inc. is the creation
of Fred & Suzanne Sardinha who tragically
lost a son but turned that pain into a nonprofit
community project which actively engages
students, teachers, parents and the community
into a discussion, motivated by youth, about
the consequences of drugs and alcohol abuse.
